ENTRY INFORMATION

Watered Down: the ebb and the flow is a national juried exhibition of contemporary art that involves the theme of water – whatever the artist’s interpretation may be.

Eligibility: Artists age 18+ living in the USA may enter.  Works previously exhibited at K Space Contemporary or K Space Art Studios-Hot Spot are not eligible.  Works must be completed within the last 3 years.  All works must be for sale.  All visual art forms and media are acceptable.  Failure to comply with the following submission guidelines may disqualify your entry – entry fee will not be refunded.

VIDEO: Due to problems video artists have been experiencing with uploading their work, video works must be submitted on DVD.  See “To Enter Offline” at the top of this screen for instructions to mail in your entry.

Size & Installation Limitations: Shipped works must conform to FedEx size restrictions: must weigh no more than 150 lbs. and have a combined length and girth of no more than 165 inches.   Works must not exceed 8 feet in any direction. Video works will be shown with a DVD player and digital projector unless the artist provides a means for it to be viewed (computer, TV screen, monitor).  Artists who submit complicated installations must be available to install their work if selected.

Jury Panel: Gerald Lopez: K Space Exhibition Committee Chair, MFA University of Delaware, Drawing/Design Instructor Del Mar College.  Day Wheeler: MFA University of North Texas, Ceramics Instructor Del Mar College.  Jennifer Arnold, MFA TAMUCC, Photography Instructor TAMUCC.  David Phillips: painter, BFA candidate TAMUCC.  V. Michelle Smythe: K Space Director, MFA SFASU, Drawing/Art & Society Instructor TAMUCC.  Ryan O’Malley, Printmaking Professor of Art, TAMUCC.

Awards: Cash awards top three places. Honorable Mentions will be given at the jurors’ will.

Sales: K Space collects payment and retains 40% commission.  Include commission when pricing your work.

Entry Fee (non-refundable): $30/non-members (or $25/members) for up to 3 works of art.  Each additional entry is $5.   Enter online through our website.  The Entry fee can be paid online through PayPal or by mailing a check or money order payable to K Space Contemporary to P.O. Box 545, Corpus Christi, TX 78403.  Put “Watered Down” in the memo section of your check when mailing in payment.  If your name is different from your PayPal account, be sure to make note of it in both the online entry and in the “notes” section of the PayPal payment. Email info@kspacecontemporary.org to submit by mail.

Format: Works will be juried from digital images submitted online.  Participants will be asked to set up an account with EntryThingy.com at no cost.  Images and all corresponding information will be submitted through this process.  Artists may submit one image for each 2D work of art and two images per 3D work.    Images must not exceed 3MB.

Framing Requirements: Sculpture must be manageable by two people.  2-D works must be properly prepared for exhibition with wire securely attached.  Drawings and prints must be framed.  Works requiring glazing must use Plexi-glass or equivalent. Only white, off-white or black mats are acceptable.  Unframed paintings must be gallery wrapped (painted on the edges either in black, neutral color or with the painting continuing around the edge).  The following will not be accepted: wet paint, clamp/clip frames, fragile frames, glass, colored mats, and thick, bulky, decorative frames not represented in the juried image as part of the work of art.  Complicated installations must be installed by the artist.

Accepted Works: All works must be For Sale. Each accepted work must arrive with proper labeling (name, email address and phone number, title, media, retail price) securely attached to the back of frame or sculpture.  K Space reserves the right to reject works not represented accurately in the image submitted and works that are poorly constructed.  We do not accept substitutions if the selected work becomes unavailable for exhibition.

Hand Delivery: Artists may deliver accepted works of art to K Space on days and times noted in the “Calendar” (above) during our regular hours of operation, Wed-Sat 11 am to 5 pm.

Shipping: All shipping costs and liability for damage are the responsibility of the artist.  Accepted works must be shipped via UPS, FedEx, or Lone Star in reusable containers.  Works must arrive at K Space no earlier than June 22 and no later than June 29.  A pre-printed shipping label (or a FedEx, UPS or LoneStar account number) for return shipment must be included with your work. This will require setting up an account with your chosen shipping company.  If there are specific instructions for return shipping, such as a “freight” carrier, make a note of it on bright colored paper and staple to the return label.

Ship Accepted Works to: K Space Contemporary, 415D Starr Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401

Insurance: Works are not insured while on display.  The gallery is climate controlled and protected by an alarm system.  K Space will take precautions to protect the artwork at all times but will not be responsible for loss or damage.  We recommend that you insure your work if you so choose.  K Space will not assume any liability for the preservation of artwork that is vulnerable to changes in temperature and humidity due to the Corpus Christi climate.

Abandoned Works:  Works left at K Space 60 days after the last day of the exhibition will be considered “abandoned.”  “Abandoned” works will become the property of K Space Contemporary and K Space will sale, donate or dispose of the works with no compensation to the artist.
