Our program currently offers a classroom visit including a presentation and/or hands-on project. The goal of this program is to educate, encourage, enlighten and mentor students about contemporary art and its importance in their local community and society.
KSC’s Outreach Program will foster integrity and respect for the art and artists by teaching art history, art techniques and art-related career paths. The program is unique in that the focus is on contemporary methods and non-traditional art forms. Our programming is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)-integrated curriculum and takes art projects and presentations into the classroom that teachers themselves are not able to offer to their students.
We are currently scheduling visits with local schools and youth outreach organizations. Lessons would consist of multi-media lectures, performances, hands-on projects and/or completion of large group projects. Potential multi-visit art projects include: raku/ceramics, sculpture, aluminum/iron pours and mural projects led by artists from the Coastal Bend region affiliated with K Space Contemporary.
The exhibition(s) on display at KSC at the time of the visit will influence program curriculum. All participants will be invited to visit KSC. Providing instruction about KSC exhibitions will give student’s background information and exposure to the artwork before they visit, thus enriching their gallery experience.
The ultimate goal of KSC’s Art Education Outreach Program is to create positive artistic experiences in the lives we touch.
We Would Like To Thank:
Coastal Bend Community Foundation and Texas Commission on the Arts
for the their generous support of the 2016-2017 season of the KSC Art Education Outreach Program. Without the generous support of these sponsors we would not be able to offer this life changing program to our community.
