WIGOUT @ K Space

WIGOUT 2014 – May 31, 8 pm to Midnight

Gear up those Wigs! Because this year’s theme is STEAMPUNK: “a Post-Apocalyptic, Victorian Wild-Western-inspired, future-infused, H.G. Wells-ish kind of style.” (from Best Steampunk DIY by Threadbanger)  WigOut is K Space Contemporary’s signature fundraiser in which all guests are required to wear a wig, hat or otherwise fanciful head-gear or head-sculpture.

K Space Contemporary will be decorated in Steampunk Style with Steampunk and contemporary artwork to enjoy and purchase.  Metal works by Houston artist, Mark “Scrap Daddy” Bradford, will also be featured at the event.  “Scrap Daddy” has been featured in “Smithsonian Magazine” and on several television shows, including “Junkyard Wars” and “Scrapyard Scavengers.”

Entertainment includes a Steampunk Style show by Renaissance Antiques, Steampunk Belly Dancing by Incantation Belly Dance, After Darke Revue performances by Rosie Rawhyde and Marla Mab,  and music to dance to by the Boombox Brothers.  Enjoy delicious food from Aunt Sissy’s Kitchen, drinks (perhaps a little snake oil!) from Pinnacle Vodka, and a Grab Bag fundraiser with goodies from fine retailers like William’s Shoes and a pair of round-trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines for the lucky winner!

If you want to make accessories for your costume – K Space is offering two workshops. Click for details:

This is truly a FUN-raiser.  Some have called WigOut, “the best party in town.” Funds raised will support K Space Contemporary’s Summer Art Adventures Education Programs and Keep Corpus Christi Colorful Mural Program. A portion of the proceeds will assist the completion of “Loteria the Mural –  a large-scale public mural to be installed on the south wall of our building and our newest addition to the “Keep Corpus Christi Colorful” mural program.

We ask for your commitment to help us reach this year’s goal of $25,000 by purchasing tickets and attending the event, donating in-kind goods/services, or by becoming a sponsor.  Click below for more information and donation/sponsorship forms.
