I have been into making faux desserts for as long as I can remember. I’m pretty sure it all started back in 1995 or 1996 I went on a field trip to the Corpus Christi Art Museum there was a show by William Wilhelmi a local ceramic artist. In the show, he had made faux desserts with ceramics! I fell in love with them! Ever since then I have been obsessed with faux desserts. At first, I used polymer clay, then I moved on to candles, and now I make any inedible material look edible. Like inside the glass on this piece is plastic wrap mixed with resin and alcohol inks. The “frosting” is lite weight spackling! I also like art to be useful. So most pieces I make, I put a note clip in it or something to make it functional. Now I’m going in another direction, using found objects to spice them up. Like on this piece, the topper “Sugar Tits” is a vintage tiny ceramic figure I found at a thrift shop. Anyway, I’m not really sure what you would call my style of art I guess just fun and colorful! Something that makes you smile when you look at it.
