A Curated Space for Local Artisans
K Space Contemporary is currently seeking artists, artisans, and designers to fill the K Space Contemporary Consignment Shop. We are proud of our local creatives and want to expose tourists and locals alike to the fabulous talent in the Texas Coastal Bend. The role of our Consignment Shop is to help artists and artisans create a thriving business. We are accepting applications for items that are handcrafted or designed locally. (We do not accept “resell” items.)

Terms of Consignment and Shelf Rental
To apply to be a vendor, fill out the simple online application form. If accepted, a K Space Contemporary (KSC) representative will contact you and work with you to set up your products in the store. We offer two agreements to help you grow your business.

OPTION 1 – 30/70 CONSIGNMENT:
Under the 30/70 agreement, artists/artisans do not pay a monthly fee. KSC retains a 30% commission and pays consignors 70% from each sale.

KSC curates items into our Consignment Shop based upon available space and our need for certain types of products. If our displays are full, we can not accept new items until space becomes available.

Your products are mixed in with other like items.

Benefits of Consignment to the vendor:

No upfront cost

Consignment is usually a better deal than wholesale because artists keep a larger percentage.

KSC provides the displays. All you do is create, label, price, and drop off your items along with your consignment agreement and inventory sheet. We take care of the rest.

OPTION 2 – SHELF RENTAL
The Rental Option requires a rental fee due at the beginning of each month, plus KSC retains 10% commission on each item sold. Spaces are limited. See Rental Fees below.​

Artists are responsible for setting up their own merchandise.

Displays – artists provide their own displays as in a fair booth or their own shop.

Restock products monthly

Rental Fees are due on the 1st of each month. KSC sends monthly invoices to the email provided. Currently, we do not offer the option to take your booth fees out of your check.

KSC reserves the right to relocate your shelf for curatorial purposes.

Horizontal Arrangement - 4’ wide shelf on slatwall, apprx. 2’ height

Vertical Arrangement - 2’w x 4’h space on the end of a gondola
TERMS:

Each Vendor is required to be a current member of KSC - Join Here

Please stock only the items accepted and approved by KSC. Any other items will be pulled and stored until you can pick them up.

Space is limited, so we can only accept small items.

The number of consignors per category (jewelry, art, ceramics, etc.) is limited.

If we do not have space for your items when you apply, your application will remain in our system. KSC will contact artists/artisans as space becomes available.

You may re-apply once every 6 months.

FINE ART: Fine artists may apply to the Gift Shop with small works no larger than 24 inches in either direction and priced at $350 or less.
Products, Prices, and Inventory

INVENTORY LISTS: Vendors must email an inventory list to kspacecontemporary@gmail.com prior to bringing items into the gift shop so that KSC can prepare the barcode labels. Inventory lists must include item name, quantity, and retail price per item.

PRODUCT LABELS: Vendors must label each product with a barcode label provided by KSC. Labels measure 2 in x 1.25 in. To ensure that the correct labels are placed on the correct items, VENDORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING LABELS ON THEIR OWN ITEMS.

PACKAGING: Vendors are responsible for packaging their products. Paper artworks (drawings, prints, photos, cards, etc.) must be placed in plastic sleeves with matboard/cardboard backing to protect the work.

INVENTORY IN K SPACE SYSTEM:​

Upon request, KSC can provide a current inventory list of your products in our gift shop.​

KSC will provide a list of items sold with each consignment payment.

IMPORTANT: ANYTIME that you pick up or change out some or all of your products: Be sure to have KSC staff adjust your inventory and create a TAKE-OUT Report.

THEFT: KSC does not assume responsibility for items that are stolen or damaged.

SECURITY: KSC is locked securely after hours and has an alarm system. Security cameras record shoppers and gallery visitors during open hours.

COMPLIANCE: Products that you bring to the store must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws for the type of products you offer. It is your responsibility to know which laws apply to your products and to ensure that your products are in compliance with all copyright, food handling, labeling, labor, and any other laws, rules, or regulations that apply. Products discovered to be in violation will be removed from the store immediately.
Setting Up

Please make an appointment for your first gift shop set-up/product drop-off by calling 361-887-6834 and speaking to Emily Quintanilla or Jalyn Casarez.

The following items are required at first-time setup for new gift shop vendors. These documents/forms will be emailed with your acceptance notice.:​

Consignment Agreement: Be sure to review our Consignment Agreement. The agreement must be signed by you and a KSC staff member.

Payment Preference Form – Vendor payments are made by PayPal, Venmo, or check.

W9 Form – completed for the current calendar year.
-
Product Inventory List: KSC Staff will enter your items into our inventory system and print barcode labels for your items.

Re-Stocking
-
Our largest crowds and highest sales occur during the monthly First Friday ArtWalks, so be sure to re-stock by the Thursday before. Due to the flurry of preparations for ArtWalk, Vendors are not allowed to set-up, change-out, or re-stock on First Fridays.

Excepting First Fridays, Vendors may set up, change out, or re-stock during regular gallery hours: Wednesday - Saturday 11am to 5 pm and Sunday 12 to 4 pm. If you cannot come in during regular hours, please call 361-887-6834 to make an appointment.

If we notice that a vendor’s items are selling, we will send a message to bring in more.

Shelf consignors are responsible for keeping their spaces stocked and tidy.

Rental Shelf products must be changed out or re-stocked once every month.

Vendors may re-stock only once per month.
Advertising
-
Vendors may be spotlighted on our Instagram or Facebook accounts while their products are for sale in our store.

When we have events at KSC we will share graphics via email for you to share on your social media. We encourage you to share these on your social media accounts to increase traffic to the store and sales.

Payment

Net Earnings exceeding $10 are paid monthly the last week of each month.

KSC will send a monthly statement of your sales by email.

Select your preferred manner of payment on the Payment Form:

Check - Must provide your full name that we need to make payments out to.

PayPal – Provide your email address that is associated with your PayPal account.
-
Venmo- Provide your Venmo username and phone number to verify account.

Taxes
-
All vendors must submit an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) W-9 form each year. KSC will not pay net earnings to vendors until we receive the W9.

Sales tax is collected and paid by KSC to the required agencies. One less thing for you to do!

Your rental fees are a business expense that can be submitted with your tax return
-
Vendors who are paid $600+ by KSC during the year will receive a 1099.
